LdeK Consulting held three sessions with the entire staff (34 members) of Sand Du Plessis High School on 7 May 2025.
Session 1:Team-building activities, where staff participated in an engaging “ice-breaker” session filled with fun. Their communication skills were challenged through listening and responding as others spoke to them. The session also included a “get to know each other again” activity.
Session 2: A mentorship development program was introduced.
Session 3: I attempted to help restore staff morale in a demanding profession that asks everything from them and often gives little in return.
Day 2: 8 May
I motivated the top 5 academic achievers at a breakfast function from local primary schools to consider pursuing technical subjects, highlighting how crucial skills development is for the future and how they can make a real difference.
That evening, I had the opportunity to speak with prospective learners and parents at the school's Open Day, emphasizing the importance of making the right school and subject choices — decisions that will shape the rest of their lives.

A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Riana Nel, the principal, for the opportunity to be a partner in education with Sand Du Plessis High School. Thank you for your kindness and the effort you put in.

On Wednesday 7 May the staff were invited to attend a team building / motivation evening.  The goal was to get staff to bond, to motivate staff and to assist staff with stress management.

Staff played games to encourage team work and "get to know your colleague" games, of course it was the games that were the most fun with lots of laughter and jokes being made and naturally there were staff who were super competitive and some that were more, shall we say "creative" to ensure victory...

The importance of mentorship and good workplace morale was presented and the stress, pressure, demands and sometimes unrealistic expectations placed on educators was touched on. And we received some helpful advice of how to try to deal with the above.

Thank you to Mr Wimpie for his time and for his enthusiasm and passion for teachers - it was an informative and enjoyable evening.  Thank you also to the SMT for arranging this evening for the staff and joining in on all the activities.

Mrs Michelle Pienaar
